Courage Tiger here and I just arrived in Phoenix, Arizona! I
went to Phoenix Children’s Hospital and had the wonderful opportunity to talk
to Jessica, one of their amazing Child Life Specialists. Jessica primarily supports infants, and shared with me how Beads of Courage acts as a therapeutic
outlet for parents to record every step their child makes. Jessica currently cares for a patient who is 7 years old, and her mom has been collecting her beads since she was only a few
weeks old. Both the mother and the child love looking over her Beads of Courage to see her strength. I asked Jessica how she thought
Beads of Courage was helpful as a child life specialist and she said, 
“This is a great opportunity for me
to assess the child's understanding and identify what areas they might struggle
with. I can provide education and help them identify coping techniques, all
within the conversation regarding their bead collection. It's a great
therapeutic outlet for the patients and intervention for me to utilize.”
Huge thanks to Jessica and all of the Child Life Specialists who help care
for all of the children and teens coping with serious illness! It was so fun talking to Jessica. Thanks, Jessica, for
